I attribute my ethnicity — an Irish, Persian, French Canadian mix — to an insatiable curiosity in culture.
Early on, I traveled extensively throughout the boroughs of New York and to far away places. I later embarked on academic and professional journeys, captivated by the palpable impact history has on modern societies and identities. In Spain and Morocco, I rigorously studied the Arab and Moor influence in Andalusian literature and society. I witnessed the crippling poverty of marginalized indigenous populations—specifically, women—in Ecuador and Peru, which inspired a move to Guatemala to provide economic opportunity to Mayan women through market access and financial education. Sparked by my first position as an Editorial Assistant, my professional goals are rooted in storytelling and cross-cultural communication. My vision is to create common ground and connect humans behind a story to their audience. |
